My name is Elly Ward and I am the founder of No Nuts About Us. I am a mom of 2 young boys. When my oldest son was 8 months old, I gave him a tiny bit of peanut butter on a cracker. In less than 30 seconds, he had hives around his mouth and on his hands. A hurried ER trip and several scary hours went by before I could take my little guy home, along with a prescription for an Epipen. Watching my son’s symptoms get increasingly worse while the doctors gave him a variety of medications was heartbreaking because I couldn’t do anything to help him. Until I experienced anaphylaxis first hand, I didn’t realize how serious food allergies could be.
After learning of his severe peanut allergy, all peanut items were removed from our home. I spent a lot of time researching safe foods, which involved calling companies on an ongoing basis and visiting 3-4-5-6 stores to make sure all of the food and personal care products for my son are safe. I thought, there has to be an easier way to buy these items. I searched for a store that was geared to the nut allergy community. I couldn't find one, so I decided to create one! No Nuts About Us was born.
No Nuts About Us is an online store dedicated to offering a large selection of organic and natural truly nut-free food and personal care products to people and families dealing with a life threatening nut allergy. I hope that I can help alleviate some anxiety and stress for other families like mine who deal with life threatening nut allergies to keep their children and loved ones safe.
