Zego oat products are made in a facility free of the top 14 allergens (including corn) and gluten free, and they are careful to source their ingredients from trusted suppliers that do not have allergens in their facility.

With these conditions, it’s highly unlikely allergen cross-contact would happen. For gluten, however, sometimes cross-contact happens in the field. That is why Zego does extra gluten testing. Every lot is tested twice before they use it, first at the processing facility where the oats are cleaned and rolled, and again at the factory where they are bagged.

Zego gluten free Double Protein Oats are grown by a specific group of farmers in the western region of the U.S. who use purity protocol growing methods (the highest GF standard) and agree not to use the toxic chemicals glyphosate or paraquat on their adjacent conventional fields.

Zego oats are purity verified for over 500 pesticides (including glyphosate), heavy metals, gluten, and allergens as wall as mycotoxins and anti-nutrients. They post the results of each product’s testing on their website and link it to the QR code on each package.

All other oats on the market are heat treated 1-2 times before you get them. Zego raw oats are cold processed, which preserves their already naturally higher protein, fiber, iron, and their active enzymes. Raw oats require special attention in preparation because they begin fermentation as soon as water is added (due to active enzymes and biome!). Because the oats are raw, their natural enzymes are still active, and that activity can result varying levels of bitterness in the raw product. The good news is that those enzymes are preventing the development of anti nutrients like phytates that can interfere with nutrient absorption and cause digestive upset. In addition, because their oat hulls are naturally extremely loose around the grain, they also have much lower mycotoxins than other typical hulled oat grains. You should always cook any kind of oats, and especially raw oats. This will neutralize the bitterness from the enzyme activity.

These oats have about twice the digestible protein of typical rolled oats and 20%-40% more fiber, which means they have a lower glycemic load. The high protein is a natural feature of the variety of oats these farmers grow, which was selected due to its high protein content. This higher protein is retained because Zego does not heat process the oats before rolling them out for you. The oat hulls are very loose and fall off during harvest, whereas other brands have to steam their grains to remove the hulls, which decreases protein content. Being hull-free, making them easier on your gut.

These oats are low glycemic — they have no added sugar and are higher in fiber than other brands. This makes them a better choice for diabetics.

Zego has careful yet simple instructions on the back of each bag to help you succeed and enjoy the best oats you will ever have.
